Customer Assistance Program

The CAP bill credit is available to all customers deemed eligible annually for the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) or Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) through the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services between Sept. 1, 2024, and Aug. 31, 2025. Customers must have an active account served on residential rate in North Carolina.

You must apply and be deemed eligible for the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) or the Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) through a local social service agency between Sept. 1, 2024, to Aug. 31, 2025. Eligible customers will be auto enrolled to receive the bill credit from November through March.

Yes, customers that receive a CAP bill credit may be enrolled in the Equal Payment Plan.

Customers enrolled in CAP will receive the CAP bill credit if they remain a Piedmont Natural Gas customer on the residential rate.

The CAP bill credit will end if a customer moves to another state or is no longer an active Piedmont Natural Gas customer.
