About Us

  • We own and operate 13 public CNG stations in North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

  • We have more than 25 years’ experience.

  • Our utility fleet consists of almost 50% CNG vehicles.

  • We support CNG customers from many industries, including: refuse, transit, over- the-road fleets, and construction.

  • We provide natural gas delivery and maintenance services for private CNG fueling stations.

Piedmont Natural Gas operates a network of publicly accessible compressed natural gas (CNG) filling stations for fleets and personal natural gas vehicles within our three-state service area in the Carolinas and Tennessee. These fast-fill stations are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Why Natural Gas

  • Environmentally Friendly

    Natural gas vehicles are 90% cleaner than federal Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) current NOx standard.CNG emits up to 21% fewer greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions than comparable gas and diesel vehicles.When fueling with renewable natural gas, GHG emissions can be reduced up to 125%.

  • Cost-effective

    Domestic abundance of natural gas has driven down the price, ensuring it will remain below that of oil or other alternative energy sources. CNG can save up to 50% over conventional fuels, and CNG vehicles are available for all types of applications, including business fleets and personal-use vehicles.

  • Domestically Produced and Abundant

    The United States is the No. 1 natural gas producer in the world. In the past five years, shale reservoirs have revealed natural gas deposits that doubled previously estimated U.S. reserves – meaning there is close to a 100-year supply. And that supply is growing as new technology allows natural gas production from large reserves that until recently were too difficult to access.

Volkswagen Diesel Emissions Environmental Mitigation Trust

Through the United States v. Volkswagen Group of America et al., Volkswagen AG has agreed to spend $14.7 billion to settle allegations of cheating emissions standards. Of that amount, $2 billion will be spent on national zero emission vehicle investments, and $2.9 billion will be used to establish an Environmental Mitigation Trust, which states and territories may use to invest in transportation projects that will reduce NOx emissions.
