Letter From Leadership
Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Piedmont Natural Gas newsletter.
We are excited to share tips to save energy and money, new products and services, ways to stay safe around natural gas, cooking demonstrations, recipes and more. Fresh content will be delivered every few months to help empower you to become savvy energy consumers.
In this first edition, you’ll learn about the importance of calling 811 before beginning digging projects to protect the nation’s underground utility infrastructure. Also, be sure to check out Chef Garrett’s cooking video so you can learn a new recipe for your summer gatherings.
Our ongoing commitment to you
Piedmont Natural Gas has enriched the community by supporting programs that promote local economic and social vitality for more than 60 years. We are proud to be a trusted natural gas provider for our customers, and we remain committed to providing tips, tools, programs, resources and more to manage bills and provide safe, reliable and increasingly clean energy.
Having happy and loyal customers is one of our top priorities, which helped us earn the No. 1 spot in customer satisfaction for residential natural gas service in the South among large utilities, according to the J.D. Power 2022 Gas Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study.
While this award is a validation of our efforts, we don’t intend to rest on our laurels. The only thing harder than reaching the top spot is staying there, and we are dedicated to meeting – and exceeding – your expectations year after year, to better serve you.
Helping you save
We continually work to keep costs as low as possible for our customers. The downward trend in the cost of natural gas allowed us to provide some relief by reducing billing rates for our customers.
Even as costs continue to drop and we head into the warmer months of summer, when natural gas bills tend to be lower because of decreased usage, it’s never a bad time for customers to take control of their natural gas bills. We encourage customers to implement energy-saving tips in their home and to enroll in our Equal Payment Plan to pay a predictable, equal monthly amount to help avoid billing surprises. We also provide assistance programs year-round for customers who may struggle with paying their bills.
Reducing methane emissions
We are committing to an industry-leading role in methane emissions reduction, while continuing to provide affordable energy for our customers. This paves the way for responsible growth of our natural gas distribution system and furthers our journey toward a cleaner energy future.
Our goals are to achieve net-zero methane emissions by 2030 for our own operations and to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 for natural gas we purchase upstream and sell to customers downstream.
Our approach to methane emissions reduction includes:
- Employing new technologies, operational efficiencies and damage-prevention initiatives in our natural gas system
- Investing in renewable natural gas opportunities
- Working with ONE Future, a nationwide coalition of natural gas companies, to voluntarily reduce methane emissions
We will continue to work daily to deliver safe, reliable, affordable and increasingly clean energy while providing you the best service for years to come.
