
The Piedmont Natural Gas FoundationOrganization In October 2004, the Company established the Piedmont Natural Gas Foundation with initial funding of $7 million. The Company provided additional funding to the Foundation in the amount of $1 million. Funding provided by the Company helps the Foundation assist specific, well-defined areas of the nonprofit community throughout our three-state service area in NC, SC and TN. About the Foundation Thomas E. Skains, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer said: 'We have always recognized and had a strong philanthropic commitment to the communities we serve. The establishment of the Piedmont Natural Gas Foundation marks an important milestone in our Company's charitable giving program and will solidify this commitment. Our employees dedicate significant amounts of time to charitable activities in the three states where our service territories are located and the foundation will further support that personal involvement.' Purpose and areas of support Realizing that we do not have the resources to support all the worthy causes that come before us, the Foundation adopted a grant making focus in 2005 known as L.E.A.D.S. Based on the L.E.A.D.S. concept, priority will be given to organizations that advance and support - Literacy and K-12 education

Governance The Piedmont Natural Gas Foundation Board of Directors has been established to guide and oversee the Foundation's grant making activities, including grant review and approval.
