Energy Efficiency Program

The purpose of this program is to provide energy efficiency measures and weatherization assistance to existing Piedmont Natural Gas customers operating non-profit entities within Piedmont’s North Carolina service territory. It is intended to create a more energy efficient and comfortable environment for the participating non-profit entities.

The Commercial Non-Profit Energy Efficiency Program will be administered and implemented by a 3rd party energy contractor selected by Piedmont Natural Gas. Only work performed by this energy contractor will be eligible for funding from this program.

Due to limited program funding and contractor availability, this program is currently only available to a limited number of eligible non-profit customers in the following counties: Catawba, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Forsyth, Davidson and Guilford. In the future, Piedmont hopes to be able to offer this program in other NC counties. The program is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2009, and will continue until such time as program funds are exhausted. Customers approved for participation in the program may receive energy efficiency and weatherization assistance ranging from a minimum of $1,500 to a maximum of $15,000, depending on the size of the facility and the number of energy efficiency measures installed. Priority will be given to charitable organizations and non-profit facilities that are less than 20,000 square feet and where the facility has a typical occupancy
of 30-40 hours per week.

Piedmont Natural Gas will forward the contact information of interested program participants directly to the 3rd party contractor. This contractor will then contact the participants directly and have them fill out a program application. Once a participant is approved for assistance under this program, the energy contractor will contact the customer directly to schedule a comprehensive energy audit of the facility. Based on the results of the audit, the energy contractor will perform the recommended energy efficiency and weatherization measures up to the amount of assistance being provided. There will be no charge to the customer for these services.
