Energy Efficiency ProgramsResidential Low-Income Energy Efficiency ProgramThis program is designed to provide energy efficiency measures and weatherization assistance to existing eligible low-income residential customers of Piedmont Natural Gas in our North Carolina service territory. It is intended to create a more energy efficient and comfortable home environment for the participating low-income customers. The Residential Low-Income Energy Efficiency Program will be administered and implemented by a 3rd party energy contractor selected by Piedmont Natural Gas. Only work performed by this energy contractor will be eligible for funding from this program. Due to limited program funding and contractor availability, this program is currently only available to a limited number of eligible low-income residential customers in the following counties: Beaufort, Edgecombe, Pitt, Wilson and Pasquotank. In the future, Piedmont hopes to be able to offer this program in other NC counties. The program is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2009 and will continue until such time as program funds are exhausted. Customers approved for participation in the program may receive up to $3,500 in energy efficiency and weatherization assistance. Priority will be given to the elderly, disabled and to families with children. Piedmont Natural Gas will forward the contact information of interested program participants directly to the 3rd party energy contractor. This contractor will then contact the participants directly and have them fill out an application and verify their income level. Once a participant is approved for assistance under this program, the energy contractor will contact the customer to schedule an energy audit of the home. Based on the results of the audit, the energy contractor will perform the recommended energy efficiency or weatherization measures up to the amount of assistance being provided. There will be no charge to the customer for these services. If you are a Piedmont customer and you live in the following counties: Beaufort, Edgecombe, Pitt, Wilson or Pasquotank; and believe you are eligible for this program, e-mail your contact information to save-energy@piedmontng.com or call 1-877-279-3636. Please note: Once Piedmont receives your request, there may be a delay before the contractor is able to contact you directly. This will depend on the volume of requests to Piedmont. Low-income residential customers in North Carolina are eligible for assistance with implementing better energy efficiency practices. | The Residential Low-Income Energy Efficiency Program will primarily address improvements to the building envelope such as adding insulation, sealing major air leaks, sealing/insulating ductwork, etc. Equipment replacement is not eligible under this program. | The target population for this project will be customers who are considered to be low-income according to the 2009 federal poverty income guidelines, including those within income eligibility up to 200% of those guidelines. |
