Pine Lake Country Club

Gas Water Heating Keeps Chef Happy
Pine Lake Country Club serves a lot of meals. But they continually ran out of hot water because their dishwasher was undersized. They were looking for an economical and reliable system.

When they looked at replacement options, they noted their dishwasher was served by an electric water heater and used a chemical assisted rinse for sterilizing. So they decided to replace the dishwasher and the water heating system at the same time.

When asked about the decision to use a gas booster heater for their dishwasher, Mike Neylon, Executive Chef for Pine Lake, said, "We knew that gas was much less expensive to operate. We never even considered electric!"

The best benefit is the increased confidence and speed of the new dishwasher and gas booster heater. According to Chef Neylon, "Two years ago we washed dishes after Easter dinner until 5:30 p.m. This year, we were gone by 3:00 p.m. Our employees love it. We have the temperature turned way up and we never to worry about running out of hot water. We felt very comfortable once we knew that the hoods would not affect the operation of the water heater. "

The Country Club chose to replace their water heater with a new Voyager water heater. Among its many features are:

  • High 94% efficiency rating in converting heat to hot water
  • Sealed combustion system -- the burner brings in its own air from the outside (The new water heater is in a room next to the main kitchen where the exhaust hoods are located)
  • Much longer than average warranty period of 8 years

To find out more about the Voyager water heater, contact your local Piedmont Natural Gas office and ask for a Commercial Sales Representative or a Food Service Specialist.
